Description of the artwork

Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer has created several pastels with the ambition of visually translating the music he appreciated. With this pastel, it is the 7th symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven that he intends to represent. Beethoven's notes are transformed under Levy-Dhurmer's hand into a dancing woman, on a deliberately abstract and colored background, translating the joy, the cheerfulness, the energy but also the strength of this symphony. With this large drawing, Lévy-Dhurmer offers a synesthetic experience of Beethoven's work.
