For its further exhibition, the Gallery Ary Jan has choosen the theme of Orientalism, and especially landscapes and horsemen.
Among these, we can note a masterpiece by Frederick Arthur Bridgman, dated 1882 and exhibited on the same year during the Special Autumn Exhibition at the National Academy of Design in New York. Bridgman is considered as the most important American painter of Orientalism. He settled many times in Algeria, roaming this country that will give him his most beautiful subjects.
Algeria once again, and more precisely El Aghouat, painted by Eugène Fromentin in an intimate size and showing horsemen making a break in this city before following there route.
We can also discover a set of five paintings by Herman Corrodi, Italian painter specialised in landscapes, sometimes animated with water-carrier women, encampment in the desert or travellers. These scenes are depicted in a combination of earthy and bright colours.
