Description of the artwork
Produced in 1922, this painting bears some resemblance to the 1921 Benedicite presented at the 21st Annual International Exhibition of Paintings organized by Pittsburgh's Carnegie Institute. In a larger format, the family seems to have been enlarged, as a young girl completes the composition. The treatment of the figures remains typical of Anto Carte's work, always attentive to the human figure confronted with its everyday life, and enveloped in a pervasive spiritual and symbolic dimension. The representation of hands and faces, as well as the particular perspective, are powerful elements found in many of the Montois painter's compositions.
