Description of the artwork

When it was presented at the 1888 Salon, critics were immediately won over by its charm. Three young girls gaze with absorbed attention at the watercolors shown to them by one of their companions. The light coloring and simple pose emanating from this canvas recalls the manner of Puvis de Chavanne, whose pupil and muse Alix d'Anethan was.
